Putin discusses with Macron the Corona file and the organization of a summit of the “Great Five.”

The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday received a phone call from his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, issuing the Corona virus file its agenda.

In a statement, the Russian presidency confirmed that the two presidents exchanged views on the spread of Corona infection, and the measures taken in both countries in this regard, especially those aimed at reducing the social and economic consequences of the pandemic.

The Kremlin indicated that Macron thanked the Russian President for helping to organize the return of French citizens to their homeland and creating the conditions for the transportation of medical materials and equipment across Russian territory to France.

The statement said that the two presidents expressed their aspiration to maintain the dynamic of developing bilateral cooperation, while stressing the importance of the existing communication between the heads of government of Russia and France.

Putin and Macron also touched on another urgent international issue, which is the French president‘s proposal to hold a virtual summit meeting of the leaders of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, days after Macron announced that he hoped to win Putin‘s support for the initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to announce a cease-fire Fire in all regions of armed conflict in the world in order to combat the Corona virus.

The Kremlin statement said that the two Presidents also discussed other issues on the international agenda, including the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, the day after the completion of the first prisoner exchange process between the Kiev government and the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk republics in 2020.
