Britain sends the Elizabeth ship to the region to fight ISIS

After a military base in north Baghdad that includes Americans was bombed by “Katyusha” missiles on Monday, British media reported today, Tuesday, that London will send the ship Elizabeth with naval vessels, a submarine, 14 fighters and helicopters to the region to participate in the confrontation of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.

She revealed that eight stealth fighter aircraft belonging to the British Royal Air Force and ten “F35B” aircraft from the US Marines will be sent from the “HMS Queen Elizabeth”, which cost 3 billion pounds sterling, which will go to Asia, accompanied by six Royal Navy ships, a submarine, 14 marine helicopters and the Royal Marines, according to “xpress and star” newspaper.

She also noted that the famous “Dambusters” Squadron, or “617” Squadron, has been appointed to operate aircraft to support counter-ISIS operations in Iraq and Syria.

The British Ministry of Defense said that the “F35B Lightning Fast” aircraft will join Operation “Schader” of “Carrier Strike Group (CSG21)” to prepare for a strong strike against “ISIS”.

For his part, the Commander of the British Air Force, Marshal Sir Mike Wigston, told the PA news agency that he had “no doubt that the violent extremism and the toxic ideology on which ISIS is based are still rooted in the region.”

He explained, “We will carry out operations to support the government of Iraq, and fight ISIS remnants in Iraq and Syria, and we will continue to transfer the fighting to them in their sanctuary, where there is no escape from that, as they threaten us and our allies.”

He also continued: “It is something that the Air Force is doing very effectively now since 2014, and the Royal Air Force has played a major role in this success,” noting that “ISIS is no longer a land force, an occupation force, as it was in 2015 and 2016.”

He continued: “Over the past two years, we have been identifying the pockets in which they dug strongholds in the mountains in remote areas, and we helped the Iraqi government to remove those pockets .. So we still have an important role.”
