Moscow: Washington funded separatist militias in northeastern Syria with stolen Syrian oil money

The head of the International Organizations Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Peter Ilichiv, announced that Washington focused its actions in Syria on encouraging and financing separatist militias in the northeast of the country from illicit trade funds in stolen Syrian oil.

Ilichev said in a statement to Sputnik: “Initially, the Americans and their allies justified their invasion of Syrian lands by the need to fight the terrorist organization ISIS, but over time their efforts shifted to imposing political realities … ISIS was not defeated despite Washington’s statements about victory … while the United States focused its actions In Syria, to encourage separatist militias by financing them with illicit trade money in Syrian oil.

Ellichev pointed out that another example of the United States seeking to undermine the territorial integrity of Syria is the US administration‘s decision to recognize the sovereignty of “Israel” over the occupied Syrian Golan.

It is noteworthy that the crimes of plundering Syrian oil carried out by the American occupation forces under the guise of fighting the terrorist organization “ISIS” come to complement Washington’s policies based on the invasions and interventions in order to control natural resources and people’s capabilities, a policy that US President Donald Trump did not find embarrassed to announce with all Frankly, when he confirmed that the decision to keep his occupying forces in the Syrian island region is for Syrian oil only.

On the other hand, Ilichiv announced that the report of the group of internationalist experts on the Russian military presence in Libya is based on questionable sources and said: “A large part of the report was built on the basis of unverified or clearly forged data and aims to discredit Russian policies in Libya where experts use questionable sources that have a direct interest in the Libyan conflict.

Ilichev added: “Rumors about the presence of Russian mercenaries in Libya are based on unreliable information.”

Russia has repeatedly declared its opposition to any foreign interference in Libya, stressing that it is doing what it can to find a political solution to the crisis in this country.
