Egyptian authorities: 18 terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in Bir al-Abd

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of the Interior reported that 18 terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with the security forces while targeting a den in the vicinity of the city of Bir al-Abed in North Sinai.

The ministry indicated that 13 automatic weapons, 3 explosive devices and two explosive belts were found.

According to the statement, “Information received by the National Security Sector was that terrorist elements from the Bir al-Abd and Karra region have gone into hiding and a series of terrorist operations have been targeted to target the security forces and the armed forces. The security forces opened fire with them, and this resulted in the death of the 18 terrorist elements, and the necessary measures were taken and the Supreme State Security Prosecution was informed to take over the investigations. ”

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian army announced Thursday the explosion of an explosive device in an armored vehicle south of the city of Bir al-Abd, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of soldiers.

The Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had mourned the armed forces ’elements and published a tweet on Twitter, in which he said:“ Today’s hand of treachery won from our heroic sons south of the city of Bir al-Abed. Egypt and its powerful army are standing fast with strength and faith. ”
