Asghar Khaji confirms the continuation of strategic cooperation between Iran, Syria and Russia in combating terrorism

The Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali Asghar Khaji discussed with the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Adnan Mahmoud, the latest developments in Syria and the relations between the two countries.

A statement issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry said today that Asghar Khaji affirmed during the meeting his country’s continued support for Syria in its war against terrorism and the continuation of strategic cooperation between Iran, Syria and Russia in combating the ill-fated phenomenon of terrorism.

Asghar Khaji pointed out the importance of continuing the ongoing consultation and cooperation between Iran, Russia and Turkey within the framework of Astana’s path to resolving the crisis in Syria politically.

Asghar Khaji also condemned the continued unilateral US coercive economic measures against the Syrian people in light of the difficult conditions of the crisis in Syria and the spread of Corona’s disease, stressing also the necessity of the international community’s support for the Syrian people, national sovereignty and territorial integrity in the framework of international laws and the war against terrorism.

For his part, Ambassador Mahmoud pointed out during the meeting to the strategic relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of continued coordination and consultation between them at the bilateral and regional levels.
