Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Farshinin confirmed today that Moscow supports the calls of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for a “global truce” in conflict areas, provided that this does not affect the war against terrorist organizations.
“We fully support the United Nations Secretary-General‘s call for a global truce in regional conflict areas and as a permanent member of the Security Council we are ready to contribute to the implementation of this important initiative,” Farshinin told Sputnik. “But the truce should not affect the continuation of the decisive war against the organizations.” Terrorism identified by the United Nations Security Council organizations.
Farshinin pointed out that in the circumstances of the Corona virus, the United Nations‘ capabilities in settling crises are becoming increasingly important, explaining that in the absence of access to medicines and health care among residents of “hot areas”, there is a possibility that the epidemic situation could collapse and could lead to a real humanitarian catastrophe.
Earlier, Guterres called for a ceasefire at all points of conflict in the world against the backdrop of the emerging Corona virus threat.
