Today, Monday, a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry launched a scathing attack on the Arab League, in response to statements by its Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, in which he spoke of the existence of “Iranian imperial ambitions” in the Arab region.
Said Khatibzadeh said, “The statements should be of the size and weight of organizations and institutions, and the Arab League no longer has a presence on the ground.”
He added, “They believe that priorities in the region are changing through repeated accusations, after their betrayal of Palestinian aspirations and their normalization of relations with Arab and Muslim enemies.”
He continued, “There is a need to change the discourse in the region, and we hope that this will happen to officials in the region .. The region needs personalities with different views from within the region.”
At the end of last month, Aboul Gheit said in a press statement that “the Arab world is facing difficult situations with its neighbors in the region, noting specifically that Iran and Turkey have imperial ambitions in the Arab region that go back to previous eras,” according to “RT”.
