Acting US Defense Secretary Christopher Miller said in his first message to US forces after he was appointed by President Donald Trump, “It is time to go home.”

“All wars must end … Ending wars requires concessions and partnership. We met the challenge. We gave her everything we had. It’s time to go home now … To all of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guards, space professionals and civilians: Keep on being bold … Together we will take our nation to new heights. ‘

The United States remains committed to “ending the war that Al Qaeda brought to our shores in 2001 … but we must avoid our previous strategic mistake of failing to see the fight to the end,” Miller said.

He added that he was “tired of war” like many others, but “this is the crucial stage in which we transform our efforts from a leadership role to a supportive one.” We are not a people of permanent war – it (war) is the opposite of everything we stand for and that our ancestors fought for. ”

Miller took over this week after President Trump sacked former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, via a Twitter message, on Monday.
