Within the framework of the distinguished relations between Syria and China, the Ministry of Health received today a new batch of medical assistance to support the health sector’s response to the Corona pandemic, provided by the People’s Republic of China.
The batch includes a number of laboratory analysis kits to detect infection with the Corona virus, individual medical protections, N95 class masks and temperature gauges.
In a speech to him after signing the receipt memorandum, the ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Damascus, Feng Biao, affirmed his country’s continued provision of medical assistance to support the health sector in Syria, pointing to the depth and strength of friendship between the two governments and the two peoples.
Ambassador Piao expressed his country’s strong opposition to the unfair and coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, and its solidarity with the steadfastness of the Syrian people, noting that these unjust sanctions increase the suffering of the Syrian people.
In a similar speech, the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Khelifaoui pointed out the importance of this assistance in supporting the health sector and its continued provision of necessary services, especially in light of these circumstances, pointing to what this sector was exposed to during the years of the terrorist war, in addition to targeting all its institutions in addition to the continuous suffering caused by the procedures Forced economic unilateral imposed on Syria.
“Since the outbreak of the Corona epidemic began in the world, there was a voice calling for a unification of efforts, synergy and cooperation between countries to tackle the epidemic, but unfortunately what European countries are doing today is applying unilateral coercive measures to Syria that primarily target the Syrian citizen with all components of his life,” said Khalifawi. Dr. Khalifawi noted the role of friendly countries, including the People’s Republic of China, which still stands with Syria in all international forums, as well as its support to the health sector in terms of continuing to provide in-kind medical assistance and exchange of experiences between medical cadres in the two countries and take advantage of the Chinese experience to quickly respond to the epidemic and contain its spread.
The first batch of Chinese medical aid related to corona virus prevention arrived in Syria on the 15th of last April and included test kits to diagnose the virus, as was previously an exchange of medical experiences via the internet between doctors in hospitals in both friendly countries with regard to confronting the emerging virus.
