Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a press briefing today, Wednesday, commenting on US President Donald Trump‘s decision to freeze US contributions to the “World Health” budget, that the leaders of the G20 group still fully support the efforts of the organization and intend to continue to strengthen the mandate Awarded to it coordinating the international fight against the pandemic.

Peskov pointed out that the leaders of the Group of Twenty have authorized the World Health Organization, in cooperation with other other competent agencies, to analyze defects in the level of pandemic preparedness and prepare a special report in this regard for the ministers of finance and health in the group within the next few months with the aim of launching a new global initiative on preparing to deal with the outbreak of the virus .

The spokesman pointed out that Moscow is building on this issue from the joint statement adopted by the leaders of the Group of Twenty at the end of the virtual summit held on March 26, where they expressed their determination to do everything in cooperation with the World Health Organization to contain the crisis of the Corona pandemic.

Peskov said Russia supports uniting the efforts of countries to combat infection, warning that exchanging accusations against the background of the spread of the virus in the world is a “non-constructive” approach.

During the briefing, the spokesman touched on the recent initiative of the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on declaring a ceasefire in all areas of armed conflict in the world in order to combat “Covid-19”, indicating that Russian diplomats are studying this initiative before joining it, and he continued that Moscow will issue a statement Especially in this regard after completing work and coordination with international partners.
