American Representative Ilhan Omar said that there is no reason not to impose sanctions on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman if the United States “truly supports freedom of expression, democracy and human rights.”
In a statement to “CNN” America, Omar said: “I think that every minute in which bin Salman escapes with punishment represents a threat to the United States’ interest in human rights and Saudi citizens.”
“If the United States really supports freedom of expression, democracy and human rights, then there is no reason not to impose sanctions on Mohammed bin Salman,” she added.
And she continued: “A man our special intelligence found had approved the killing of a person residing in the United States and a Saudi journalist (Jamal Khashoggi).”
Omar added: “Like the killing of Khashoggi, it is something that we have already decided to impose sanctions on others because of it, and in any measure of law and order we not only punish those who carried out the killing, but also punish those who agreed to the operation, and in this case we must do what we do.” We can keep these values and principles intact. “
