Nuclear submarine accompanied by American warships crosses Strait of Hormuz

A Pentagon official said that the passage of this submarine is a message to Tehran and a commitment from Washington to protect its allies.

The source stated that the submarine “USS Georgia” which entered the Gulf was equipped with more than 150 missiles of “Tomahawk” type.

The crossing of this submarine comes at a time when the commander of US forces in the Middle East, General Frank MacKenzie, said during a tour in the region that his country is “ready to respond” in the event that Iran attacks it on the first anniversary of the killing of General Qassem Soleimani.

“We are ready to defend ourselves, our friends and allies in the region, and we are ready to respond if necessary,” the commander of the US Central Command (SANTCOM) told a limited number of journalists.

“I think that we are in a very good position, and that we will be ready, whatever the Iranians and their allies decide to do,” he added.

The commander of ” SANTCOM “ confirmed that he visited Baghdad, where he met the commander of the international coalition forces, American General Paul Calvert, and the Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdel Amir Yar Allah.

He stated that he had also visited Syria to meet with the American forces at Al-Tanf Base (South) located in the border triangle with Jordan and Iraq.
