Pyongyang added that it would also deploy its forces in the vicinity of the mountain complex Kemegansan which was built as part of the inter-Korean cooperation project.

The North Korean Central News Agency quoted a representative of the General Staff of the North Korean Army as saying, “We will deploy army forces at the regiment level and fire units required in the Kemegansan Tourist Region and Gaeseong Industrial Complex to defend the sovereignty of our republic.”

North Korea said that these steps are aimed at preventing South Korea from launching possible hostilities against it, according to the North Korean Central News Agency.

The agency also reported that Pyongyang rejected Seoul’s request to receive envoys to it, and said: “South Korea, which has been overwhelmed by our decisive attack, has informed its Chairman Moon Jae‘s intention to send special envoys to the comrade the premier.”

“But the first vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Labor Party, Kim Yoo Jung, said that she rejects this totally dishonest offer.”

These developments come after North Korea blew up earlier Tuesday the headquarters of the inter-Korean contact in the city of Kaesong on the northern side of the inter-Korean border.

And last week, Pyongyang announced that it had decided to cut all lines of contact with South Korea, after reaching a conclusion that all negotiations with the authorities in Seoul were futile.

North Korea described its southern neighbor as the “enemy”, threatening it with “settling accounts.”
