WHO: Corona virus epidemic is still an international emergency

The World Health Organization confirmed today, Friday, that the emerging epidemic of Corona virus is still an emergency health situation internationally.

The Corona virus pandemic is still an emergency for public health at the international level,” WHO Director-General Tidros Adhnom Gebresos said at a hypothetical press conference to mention the results of a meeting of the emergency committee that took place on Thursday.

Gebrissos indicated that he intends to hold a future meeting of the organization’s emergency committee after 90 days, or perhaps sooner, if necessary.

He stressed that the World Health Organization is extremely concerned by the rapid spread of the Corona virus in countries with weak health systems.

However, he indicated that the WHO will work with the international community and partners to enable vital travel to respond to the pandemic and restore the travel sector to normal.

Since January 2020, the world has been facing a deteriorating crisis caused by the outbreak of the newly invaded Corona virus (COVID-19), which has led to huge losses in many sectors of the economy, especially transport, tourism and entertainment, the collapse of global exchanges and the acceleration of the decline in energy markets.

On January 30, the World Health Organization classified the emergence of the emerging corona virus infection, on an international level, as declared on March 11 by a public pandemic. To date, more than 3.3 million cases of this strain have been recorded in the world in about 180 countries, including 235,000 Death and 1.05 million recoveries.
