Corona casualties exceed 30,000 cases in Peru

The death toll from the infection of the new Corona virus in Peru has risen to the threshold of 30,000, with 854 new deaths recorded, the Ministry of Health announced today.

“The number of cases has increased to 31,190,” Reuters quoted the ministry as saying in a statement, the second highest toll in Latin America.

The infection led to the collapse of some medical facilities, with corpses being kept in the corridors, frequent use of masks, and protests among medical personnel concerned for their safety.

At least three prisoners had died yesterday after a prison riot due to demands for better protection and medical care from the Corona virus.

Last week, Peruvian President Martin Vizcara issued a humane pardon to prisoners to prevent the spread of the Corona virus in prisons in the country, which is operating at twice its capacity.
