European leaders give the euro group 15 days to develop an economic plan to confront Corona

European Union leaders decided to give euro zone finance ministers 15 days to find a joint plan to address the economic consequences of the emerging Corona virus crisis. After more than six hours of video discussions, European Union heads of state and government reached agreement on a joint declaration project to tackle the crisis caused by the virus.

“We call on the euro group to submit proposals to us within two weeks,” the French press agency quoted European leaders as saying in a statement after the talks.”These suggestions should take into account the unprecedented nature of the Covid 19 shock that affects all our countries, and our response will be strengthened as necessary, with further measures taken in a comprehensive manner in light of developments for an in-depth confrontation,” the statement added.

On the other hand, a diplomat quoted French President Emmanuel Macron as warning the European Union leaders that the outbreak of the Corona virus threatens the main pillars of the bloc, such as the open border region, if the bloc countries do not show solidarity in this crisis.

The European project is at risk … the threat we face is the elimination of the Schengen area,” Macron told the rest of the group’s 26 leaders during a conference call.

The victims of the virus are distributed on various continents in the world, but the continent of Europe is the most affected by this epidemic, as it was recorded yesterday, 258068 cases.
