Churches of Syria and Lebanon announce the suspension of prayers and liturgy

Christian churches in Syria and Lebanon decided to suspend public services and prayers, including masses in churches, from its history until further notice.

And the churches announced in a joint statement, yesterday, Saturday, a number of measures “based on the recent developments of the spread of the Corona virus, and to prevent this epidemic.”

These measures also included “stopping all meetings and activities such as evenings, excursions, ceremonies, celebrations, exhibitions, competitions and others”.

Likewise, “holding funerals in exclusively burial churches (if any) in the presence of the parish priest and those with the deceased, without accepting condolences, and avoiding all kinds of gatherings and commitment to stay in the homes.”

The statement called for the need to comply fully with the official health instructions.
