The head of the Russian United Shipbuilding Company, Alexei Rakhmonov, has announced that the Russian navy will receive a strategic nuclear submarine soon.In a recent press interview, 0Rakhmonov said: “The Navy will soon receive Prince Vladimir’s first submarine, the new Borey-A strategic nuclear submarine.”

He added, “We have finished putting the finishing touches to the submarine, and we have taken it to the necessary tests. I think it will be delivered to the navy in the country within a month and a half.” These statements come from Rakhmonov after a period of statements made by the Supreme Commander of the Russian Navy, Nikolai Rakhmonov, in which he confirmed that the “Prince Vladimir” submarine is supposed to join the service in the Russian Navy in 2020.

Last November, the spokesperson for the Northern Fleet, Colonel Vadim Serga, had stated that the aforementioned submarine had completed some government testing, and had throws using training torpedoes to destroy an underwater target. The Prince-Vladimir 54-549 submarine belongs to modern fourth-generation submarines, developed by Russia under Project 955 Borey, as a strategic nuclear submarine capable of launching long-range nuclear “Ballava” nuclear ballistic missiles.
