The voting process in the eleventh parliamentary elections began today, Friday, in most parts of Iran, in which 7148 candidates are competing for 290 seats in Parliament (the Shura Council).
Our correspondent said that the elections are being held at 55,000 polling stations and supervised by more than one million observers. And 57 million and 918 thousand Iranian citizens are entitled to participate in the elections in which 7148 candidates compete for 290 seats in Parliament.
Parliament elections coincide with midterm elections in the Assembly of Experts of Leadership in the provinces of Tehran, Persia, Qom, North Khorasan and Khorasan Razavi.
Iranian leader Ali Khamenei cast his vote this morning and called on the Iranians to participate in the elections, noting that “Election Day is a national holiday that we bless for our people … The elections are a guarantee of Iran‘s national interests … I invite everyone to choose the candidates who want to do so in the early hours” of the voting process .
Khamenei stressed that participating in the elections is a “legal duty” and everyone who wants to secure Iran‘s interests should participate in it.
