Reveal the importance of handwashing in preventing “corona”

The Corona virus has caused worldwide chaos since the outbreak in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

Since the first case of the virus was reported in December last year, more than 44,000 confirmed cases of the killer “Corona” have appeared.

In a precautionary measure to prevent viral infections, such as the “Coruna” virus, doctors recommend following the rules of personal hygiene, especially hand washing well.

While some people doubt that something as simple as washing hands can have an effect in providing protection, a new study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge shows the importance of hand washing to slow the spread of viruses.

The study, published in Risk Analysis, used epidemiological modeling and data-based simulation to determine the impact of improved personal hygiene on the rate of virus transmission.

With the available data, the researchers began to demonstrate that many people do not wash their hands after using the toilet, or they may not do it properly. They revealed that keeping hands clean, especially while traveling, has the ability to reduce the risk of possible spread of a fatal infection by 24 to 69%.

The authors of the study said that the deployment of “prevention strategies” in 10 main locations may reduce the risk of disease by up to 37%. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) determines the best method that can be used to wash hands effectively. “Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating and after coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer at least 60%,” she said.

Other ways to prevent Corona virus

There is currently no vaccine to prevent the new “SK” infection, but the CDC recommends some other measures that can be taken to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including:

1. Avoid close contact with sick people. Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

2. Staying home when sick.

3. Cover the cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash.

4. Clean and disinfect things and surfaces that touch frequently.
