Al-Moallem: So-called “Caesar Act” targets Syrians in their livelihood… Syria will spare no effort to end US and Turkish occupation

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Walid Al-Moallem, affirmed that the political agendas in the world still precede the humanitarian ones, yet, instead of lifting the unilateral, coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people with the spread of COVID 19 pandemic, we have witnessed a renewal of these measures and imposing more of them under illusive pretexts, including the so-called “Caesar Act” which aims at pressing the Syrian people in their livelihood and daily life.

“Terrorism still represents continuous danger to the stability and prosperity in the world, it also poses the most important threats to the international peace and security,” Al-Moallem added in a speech to the 75th session of the UN General Assembly broadcast via video.

He inquired if hindering what has been destroyed by terrorism in Syria would serve the Syrians, or breaking off the job opportunities and obstructing the return of the refugees, burning the wheat crops, stealing oil and combating the energy sector in Syria, if all that protects the civilians.

“It is obvious that the goal of “Caesar Act” in its essence exerting pressure on the Syrian people in their livelihood and their daily life in an inhumane scene that reminds us of the brutality through which George Floyd was strangled and through which Israel strangles the Palestinian People,” ِAl-Moallem said.

“While we stress that the unilateral coercive measures contradict the international law in a clear and frank way, we call on all countries affected by those measures to form a unified front to face that phenomena and ease their impacts on our people,”Al-Moallem said.

He affirmed that the Turkish regime is in the top of those who invest in terrorism as it is one of the terror-sponsors in Syria and the region.

The US and Turkish forces’ illegitimate presence on Syrian territories is an occupation and Syria will not spare any effort to end this occupation with all possible means guaranteed by the international law,” Al-Moallem said.

The Turkish regime has facilitated the entry of tens of thousands of foreign terrorists into Syria and still offers all forms of support to Jabhat Al-Nusra and the other terrorist organizations, and it practices the policy of Turkification and the coercive displacement, nevertheless, it has used the collective punishment policy against two million civilians in Hasaka and the surrounding towns through cutting off water,” Al-Moallem added.

“We condemn the so-called separatist QSD militia who conspires on Syria’s unity and its people and loots its resources,” Al-Moallem added.

Al-Moallem affirmed that Syria has not spared any effort to engage in the political track.

“We have openly participated in Geneva talks, Moscow consultations and Astana meetings as we have dealt in a positive way with the outcomes of the Syrian National Dialogue conference in Sochi represented by forming the Committee of Discussing the Constitution, and we stress that success of work of the committee will not be achieved except by guaranteeing non-interference in its affairs,”Al-Moallem said.

As for the occupied Syrian Golan, Al-Moallem affirmed that Golan has been and still is a Syrian territory that we fight to restore it completely until June 4th, 1967, adding that this issue can’t be prescribed and the Israeli illegitimate measures and the US decisions will change nothing and they are null and void and have no legal impact according to international law and UN relevant resolutions, particularly resolution No.497 for 1981.

Syria stresses its firm and principled stance in support of the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital and their right to return Home,” Al-Moallem added.

Al-Moallem also affirmed Syria’s support to Iran against the US policy that aims to undermine the nuclear deal and destabilize the situation in the region.
