Ministry of Health: 2,115 people were quarantined, of whom 217 are currently in quarantine

The Ministry of Health announced that the number of people who were placed in quarantine to make sure that they were not infected with the Corona virus since the fifth of last February until yesterday, amounted to two thousand one hundred and fifteen people.

Dr. Atef Al-Tawil, deputy director of communicable and chronic diseases at the ministry, explained in a statement read today that the ministry currently has nineteen quarantine centers and fourteen medical isolation centers in all governorates, noting that there are quarantine centers equipped by official bodies and NGOs in case of need.

The statement added that the ministry has recently expanded laboratories to analyze samples of suspected cases of corona virus and adopt a unified treatment protocol for patients with the virus and awareness and prevention guide within health institutions, with follow-up cases of illegal entry into the country to ensure health security and curb the spread of infection.

The statement pointed out that the ministry has increased the number of laboratory tests conducted daily for samples of cases suspected of being infected with the virus by expanding these tests from a single laboratory in Damascus to five laboratories distributed in Damascus and one in each of Homs, Aleppo and Lattakia to be able to complete the required tasks within a shorter time. .

He affirmed that the Ministry continues to provide integrated medical care for people living with HIV, whose conditions range from light, medium, severe and critical, which need strict care, while emphasizing the availability of medicines included in the treatment plan, with the development of a treatment protocol and awareness and prevention guide for health workers in health institutions.

The statement indicated that the ministry is facing a double challenge to respond to the Corona pandemic due to coercive unilateral economic measures imposed on Syria in terms of securing the supplies and medical equipment needed to manage patients and meet their needs, stressing that the continuation of procedures in light of these difficult conditions facing all countries of the world, including those that impose this blockade It exposes the falsehood of Western and American allegations that it cares about human rights, the first of which is the right to health.

The statement renewed the demand of these countries to respond to the international and national calls and to cancel these restrictive politicized measures immediately and without any precondition.

It is noteworthy that the number of cases of Corona virus recorded in Syria has reached thirty-eight cases so far, five cases have been recovered and two cases have died.
