The Russian Ministry of Defense said that Russian “Su-24” fighters destroyed a tank, 6 armored vehicles and 5 four-wheel-drive vehicles belonging to gunmen who stormed positions of the Syrian army in the Syrian province of Idlib, on Thursday.
She added in a statement issued by the Reconciliation Center in Syria (affiliated to the Russian Defense), that the Russian raids enabled the Syrian army forces to successfully repel militant attacks in the area, noting that the Russian Air Force destroyed the mechanisms of the militants with heavy bullets.
The Center clarified that “on February 20, terrorist gangs carried out a number of intense attacks using large numbers of armored vehicles on the units of the Syrian Arab Army towards the Qaminaz-Neirab axis.”
The statement pointed out that the performance of the militants was supported by artillery fire by the Turkish armed forces, which enabled them to penetrate the defense of the Syrian army.
The center added that 4 Syrian soldiers were wounded by Turkish artillery shelling.
The statement continued: “On the conflict resolution line, the Turkish side was informed that the Russian objective substantive control devices monitored artillery fire from Turkish positions on the Syrian army units, and after informing the Turkish side of this information, the artillery fire stopped.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that it is not the first time that the Turkish armed forces have supported the Syrian militants, calling “the Turkish side to stop supporting terrorist operations and transfer weapons to them.”
