Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced hope that a new round of meetings of the Committee of Discussing the Syrian Constitution in Geneva would be held soon.
Lavrov’s remarks came during his talks with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria ,Geir Pedersen, in Moscow on Thursday.
He said that this is a good opportunity to exchange views in this stage, noting that the stability being witnessed in Syria is not accompanied by the international community’s efforts to solve the humanitarian issues and restore the infrastructure for the safe return of the Syrian refugees.
Lavrov hoped that the situations would become better after implementing UN Security council resolution No. 2585 on extending the cross-border humanitarian aid operation to Syria.
For his part, Pedersen considered that making progress in the political settlement for the crisis in Syria requires a common understanding to resolve the humanitarian issues in the country, referring to the international meetings he had held earlier about the situation in the county, praising the Russian support for his work.
