Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad, discussed with Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the latest developments in the region and the world in addition to bilateral cooperation.
The two sides, during a telephone call on Thursday, reviewed the measures taken by officials concerned in both countries to put into force the outcomes of Mikdad’s latest visit to Sultanate of Oman, and coordination regarding the political developments on the Arab and international areas.
Minister Mikdad briefed his Omani counterpart on the positive results and success achieved by the Syrians regarding the constitutional entitlement, affirming that the Syrian people’s massive turnout to polling stations have proven to the world their support to the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and that the west attempts to negatively affect the election process were doomed to failure.
The Minister also talked about fulfilment of legal procedures regarding the agreement signed between the two countries on the mutual exemption of holders of diplomatic, special and service passports from visa, and the approval of people’s Assembly on it.
He said that the Syrians are satisfied over the level of cooperation and coordination between the two states.
The Omani Minister, for his part, congratulated Mikdad and Syria on the presidential election, hoping the success of this process would boost the return of Syria to play its important role on the Arab and international arenas.
