Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami said on Sunday that Iran is now able to produce wide-body UAVs which can fly thousands of kilometers away.
“We have wide-body drones which can fly 7,000km and they are able to land at any points,” General Salami said, addressing a ceremony to unveil the IRGC’s new coronavirus vaccine named Noora.
He stated that Iran has decided to become one of the best in the world in every fields, adding that the country is now one of the most advanced countries in construction of UAVs.
“We are a great nation that has been able to create great surprises despite many sanctions,” he added .
Iran has made giant advancements in aerospace industries, specially in designing and manufacturing pilotless drones in the recent decade.
Last August, Head of Iran Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO) Second Brigadier General Afshin Khajeh Fard underlined the country’s desired position in the world in manufacturing different types of drones.
“The international bodies which assess the countries’ air combat power have ranked Iran 5th world power in the field of drones or UAVs,” General Khajeh Fard said.

Also in February, Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh stated that the country is capable of manufacturing different types of drones, adding that new drones are due to be produced in future.
“Today, we have reached full maturity and skills in building various types of drones used for combat, reconnaissance and electronic warfare missions, and we have developed the technologies needed for making various types of drones based on needs, and we have on agenda production of other types of drones in future,” General Nasirzadeh said.
