Iran renewed its demand to lift the unilateral Western coercive measures imposed on Syria, which have increased the suffering of Syrian people, as well as the withdrawal of the occupying forces from its lands and a halt to the support of terrorism in Syria.
During a session of the UN Security Council held yesterday via video, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi , explained that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people are “irresponsible and immoral.” He said, “We condemn the use of food and medicine as a weapon, and the Security Council should focus on measures that can reduce the suffering of the Syrian people quickly and facilitate the return of the displaced to their places of residence.
Ravanchi reiterated his country’s position calling for resolving the crisis in Syria politically to ensure its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and said that his country is committed to a political solution to the crisis and opposes any separatist tendencies.
