Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, met members of the Russian delegation visiting Syria to keeping pace and cover the presidential elections to be held tomorrow, May 26TH .
Meeting with the delegation, Sabbagh thanked the State Duma and The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation for their response to keep up with the presidential elections in Syria, underlining that the historic relations between Syria and Russia are achieving advanced steps forward in a way that meets the interests and aspirations of the two countries and peoples.
Sabbagh asserted the Assembly’s keenness to enhance and develop parliamentary relations with the State Duma and The Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation through exchanging delegations and parliamentary experiences in addition to the high- level joint coordination at the international and regional forums.
For his part, Member of the Russian State Duma, Dmitry Sablin, thanked and appreciated the warm welcome in Syria ,adding that this visit has two features, the first is political represented by presence and keeping up with the presidential elections and the second is represented by offering humanitarian support to the families of martyrs and to those who are affected by the terrorist war on Syria.
He stressed that the Russian parliamentary delegations will convey to the Russian people and international and public opinion what they have observed on the ground while accompanying the elections in Syria.
Sablin underlined the unity of stances of his country and Syria in addition to the readiness of Duma State to push the exchanged visits and develop the joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the two countries.
He called for developing the parliamentary relations and activating the role of the Syrian-Russian committees to achieve this target.
