Following the success in liberating the rudder of the stranded Ever Given Ship in Suez Canal, the vessels around the ship blew their horns to celebrate this small victory, despite the fact that the blockage in the Canal continues.
According to Lt. Gen. Osama Rabie, Chief of Egypt’s Suez Canal Authority said that the rudder moved and the engines started rolling. We were hoping for a big push, but the tide was very low. He added that work will continue around the clock to dislodge the stranded ship in the canal, pointing out that 10 tugboats and two bulldozers are working hard to free the ship.
He clarified that “the delinquency of the ship was the result of several errors that made the ship take a wrong direction.”
“The ship is 400 meters long and the Canal is 250 meters wide at this particular place which increases the possibility of making errors. The main reason could be the wind, human error or technical error. Investigation will prove that,” he said.
