The Syrian Foreign Minister arrives in the Sultanate of Oman on his first Gulf visit

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Miqdad arrived in the Sultanate of Oman, his first visit to an Arab and Gulf country, after assuming his position to succeed the late Minister Walid Al-Muallem.

And Syrian TV announced that Al-Miqdad and his accompanying delegation arrived at the airport in the Omani capital, Muscat, for a visit that would last for several days.

The Sultanate of Oman is the first Arab and Gulf country to return its ambassador to Damascus, last October, after it had reduced its representation in Syria in 2012 following the crisis that erupted in the country, like other Arab countries boycotted Syria.

Al-Miqdad’s first foreign visit led him to Tehran on the seventh of last December, where he met with senior Iranian officials, and on the 17th of the same month, his second foreign visit to Moscow.
