Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with European Council President Charles Michel, in a phone call, the prospects for using the Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine against Corona in the European Union countries.
The Kremlin indicated in a statement that this issue was addressed by the two parties during their discussion of issues related to combating the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Russian presidency stated that Putin and Michel also discussed “the settlement of the internal Ukrainian crisis, the situation in Belarus, and some other urgent issues.”
The statement also said that Putin, during his contact with Michel, described the current relations between Russia and the European Union as unsatisfactory, indicating that the reason for this is due to the stances of Moscow’s partners “which are not constructive and sometimes even inclined to confrontation.”
The Russian president expressed his country’s readiness to restore “the normal, non-politicized dealings formula with the European Union in the event that the other side expresses its interest in this.”
