Portuguese Trade Union condemns US-European sanctions against Syrian people

Portuguese Trade Union condemned illegitimate unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US and the European Union against the Syrian people, calling on the Portuguese government to move for removing them.

“We urge the Portuguese government, in the context of its presidency of the Council of the European Union, to propose and push for an immediate end to the European Union sanctions against Syria and to replace them with measures to compensate for the damage that affected Syria and its people,” Portugese Trade Union said in a letter of solidarity sent to the General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria.

The Portugese trade Union also condemned the recent attacks launched by the US and the Israeli occupation entity against Syria, stressing that they constitute a clear contempt for the international law and the United Nations’ Charter and violate Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

The Portuguese Workers Union conveys its deep solidarity with the workers of Syria and the General Federation of Trade Unions in Syria and appreciates the valuable contribution made by the national and anti-imperialist resistance in Syria in defending peace, rights and interests of workers in the whole world.
