The Russian Emergencies Ministry office in Primorsky region reported that fire broke out in the fishing vessel “VITIM” in the Sea of Japan, while a rescue team was preparing to evacuate its crew.
Rescuers received a notification about the fire at 7:00 local time (00:00 Moscow time).
At 07.15 hours, a rescue tug was sent to provide assistance, while an additional rescue tug was being prepared, and a Mi-8 helicopter was preparing to leave with a group of rescue and search personnel.
In total, 60 people and 4 floating aircraft are taking part in the evacuation, as well as equipment provided by the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
