Syrian, Iraqi talks to enhance bilateral cooperation

Speaker of People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, affirmed on Tuesday that the will and determination of the Syrian and Iraqi people have always been greater than all the fierce terrorist attacks that the two countries were subjected to.

Sabbagh, meeting the Chargé de’ Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, stressed the importance of the common brotherly ties between the two people, referring to the need for strengthening bilateral relations in various fields in the interests of the two countries.

He said both states have a joint will to go ahead in combating terrorism.

For his part, Al-Hajimi said that Iraq and Syria confront one enemy, represented by the terrorist organization of Daesh, which is supported by “dark sides which try to target the two countries and destroy the region, the cradle of human civilizations.”

He pointed out to the importance of continuing cooperation the war against terrorism until it is totally eliminated.

Al-Hajimi stressed the need to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries and enhancing cooperation through the work of joint Iraqi-Syrian committee.
