Moscow calls on Washington to stop “displaying weapons” in the Black Sea

Russia called on the United States to stop the “reckless display of weapons” in the Black Sea, due to the movement of American warships there.

“We call on the American armed forces to stop their reckless display of weapons and to take care of their affairs in the territorial waters of the United States,” the Russian embassy in Washington said on its Twitter account.

The embassy stressed that “peace and security in the Black Sea do not need external intervention,” adding that “it seems that the American Sixth Fleet is seeking to find an enemy in the Black Sea, and it is looking for an excuse, and now openly, to increase its presence in the region under the cover of military maneuvers.”

The US Navy announced that it had conducted joint exercises with the Turkish Navy in the Black Sea on Tuesday, and that the exercises were aimed at training in monitoring submarines for the supposed enemy.

The two destroyers “Porter” and “Donald Cook” participated in the exercises, in addition to two Turkish frigates and warplanes from both sides.
