Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Bashar al-Jaafari, discussed on Wednesday with Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, Charge d’ Affairs of the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus and an accompanying delegation the latest political developments in Syria and Iraq.
The Iraqi delegation comprised members of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, headed by Abdul Razzaq Al-Zuhairy, chairman of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce.
The two sides discussed means of enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation, at governmental and private levels, especially in terms of securing the necessary needs for the peoples of the two brotherly countries.
Al-Jaafari described relations between Syria and Iraq as “fraternal and deeply-rooted throughout history”, indicating that integration between both countries is a decisive issue, saying “when Iraq is safe, it will be a good supporter for Syria and vice versa.”
In turn, al-Hajaimi described as deep the relations relations between the two brotherly countries, pointing out to the importance of the Syrian commercial and medicinal production for the Iraqi people.
For his part, Al-Zuhairy said that relations between the chambers of commerce in both countries strong , reminding of Styria’s stance and its important rolr in breaking the economic blockade which was imposed on the Syrian people in 1998.
