Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, advised the new US administration to support the idea of holding the “five-year” summit of the UN Security Council proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Nebenzia said in an interview with “TASS” agency: “A new American administration has come, and it must answer this initiative, which is still on the table and is important for direct talks.”
He added that he would have supported this initiative if he had been in the place of the American administration.
The United Nations announced earlier that it welcomed the initiative of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to hold a summit of the leaders of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (Russia, the United States, China, Britain and France) to discuss ways to “protect peace and preserve civilization.”
