Chinese Foreign Minister condemns coercive economic measures imposed on Syria

Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Faysal Mikdad, received a phone call from Chinese State Councilor, Foreign Minister Wang Yi , during which they discussed bilateral relations and means of developing and boosting them to serve the common interests of peoples in the two countries.

Minister Wang Yi, during the phone call, hailed the heroism and sacrifices of the Syrian people in defending their dignity and the unity, sovereignty and independence of the country throughout the past ten years.

He condemned the illegitimate coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, affirming the stance of his country in support of a political solution under the leadership and ownership of Syria and in accordance with the will and interests of the Syrian people, calling on the international community to unify efforts to combat terrorism.

The Chinese Minister expressed his country’s high appreciation for President Bashar al-Assad’s stances in support of China against coronavirus epidemic and China’s permanent readiness to offer support and assistance to the Syrian people to confront the impacts of the disease through the dispatching of medical and preventive assistance to Syria.

For his part, Mikdad thanked the good-heart feelings expressed by the Minister, affirming that the efforts exerted by Presidents al-Assad and Xi Jinping are genuine guarantee for the future of relations between the two friendly countries.

He appreciated the historic relations between the two states and China’s stances in support of the Syrian people in the face of the terrorist war imposed on the country and the impacts of the unilateral, coercive measures.

Mikdad reiterated Syria’s stance in support of China against western attempts that target China sovereignty and territorial integrity, affirming that Syria doesn’t recognize except one China, and it supports China efforts against any attempt of foreign intervention in its domestic affairs.
