Iranian authorities: A landing ship with 7 people on board sank near the Strait of Hormuz

The Iranian authorities announced, this evening, Saturday, that a landing ship with 7 people on board has sunk near Lark Island, overlooking the Strait of Hormuz.

The deputy head of the Ports and Navigation Organization in Hormuzgan Governorate, Ismail Maki Zadeh, said that the ship capsized on Friday evening, 25 miles southeast of Lark Island and 9 miles northeast of the Strait of Hormuz.

Makki Zadeh stated that the Iranian side had contacted the maritime rescue centers in the UAE, Oman and Pakistan, and all ships crossing the Strait of Hormuz, to find the seven sailors who were on board the ship.

The Iranian official stressed that the rescue operation is still continuing, and all available forces have been mobilized to find the missing.
