COVID: VACCINE WILL BE FREE FOR ALL, JEAN CASTEX SAYS

رئيس وزراء فرنسا يعد بجعل التطعيم ضد كورونا مجانيا

This December 3, Jean Castex presented the government’s Covid-19 vaccine strategy during a new press brief. Saying that “not everyone will be able to be vaccinated first”, the Prime Minister announced “vaccine will be free for all”.

Many people were waiting for this press brief. This December 3, Jean Castex presented the government’s strategy as to the Coronavirus vaccine strategy in France. And the Prime Minister intended to reassure the French saying vaccine “will be free for all”, a few hours after Italy made the same decision for the Italian citizens.

Expected to start in January 2021 for one million people, Jean Castex reminded that “not everyone will be able to be vaccinated first”, explaining that nursing home residents will be prioritized, as well as health caregivers considered as “people at risk”. This is also what the Haute Autorité de Santé recommended a few days back.

Furthermore, “France will have 200 million doses possible enabling to vaccinate 100 million people” since two injections are necessary. “It’s far more than we need, but our goal is to make sure France has enough vaccine for the people” the head of government insisted.

So, what candidate vaccines have been selected for the campaign? “The one developed by the Pfizer and BioNTech laboratories will make it first, then Moderna’s will follow, and then Sanofi’s” Jean Castex explained. Earlier in the day, Sanofi announced the vaccine will cost “less than a pack of cigarettes” naming “under 10 euros”. Developed by the Sanofi and GSK laboratories, this vaccine is still completing phase 2 of the clinical trials.
