A magnitude 5.0 earthquake on Richter scale on Thursday struck Cplak province, southeast of Turkey and felt by people of Hasaka province.
Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) said in a statement that the center of the quake was in Cortalan province at a depth of 20 kilometers.
Turkey has a history of being rocked by powerful earthquakes and is considered as one of the most seismically active regions in the world as it is located on many active fault lines and has witnessed many earthquakes in the past.
