Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Sebastia, Atallah Hanna, expressed his condolences over the demise of Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Moallem.
In a statement, Archbishop Hanna asserted that the late minister was known for firm national stances in his defense of Syria, especially in the midst of the unprecedented global conspiracy that targeted Syria in recent years with the aim of undermining its unity and strength.
He said that those conspiracies have failed due to President Bashar Assad’s wise leadership.
“Al-Moallem, whom we met during our visits to Syria and at international conferences and meetings on Jerusalem, Palestine and on Syria was a wise principled figure who adhered to national stances in defending Syria and rejecting the conspiracy targeting it.
Archbishop Hanna extended his heartfelt condolences to the leadership and people of Syria and to the family of the late minister.
