The firefighting teams and fire engines affiliated to the Agriculture Directorate in Lattakia have been able to put out a fire which erupted on Saturday in the eastern forests in Slunfieh area and operations are underway for cooling the fire spots to prevent the fire from erupting again.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Commander of Lattakia Firefighting Brigade Mohanad Ja’afar said that the reasons behind the eruption of the fire haven’t been known yet, and the firefighting teams have exerted tireless efforts to contain and extinguish the fire and to prevent it from extending to other areas.
Ja’afar noted that the firefighting teams and the fire engines of the Agriculture Directorate are working on extinguishing another fire which erupted on Saturday in the site of Al-Shaara Mountain in Lattakia countryside as they are working on containing it and preventing it from extending to other areas.
He added that the firefighting teams in cooperation with different bodies in the province on Friday put out 13 fires in different areas while the operation of extinguishing fires in the forests in vicinity of Al-Ghunaimeh village in Lattakia northern countryside is underway.
Later SANA reporter said that fires are still consuming the forest of Al-Shouh reserve in Slunfieh area due to the changeable direction of the wind despite the great efforts exerted by the firefighting teams.
