The Ministry of Endowments on Sunday announced the suspension of Friday and mass prayers at the mosques of Damascus and its countryside for fifteen days, as of Monday, August 3rd, in response to the precautionary measures for tackling the novel Corona virus (COVID-19).
Director of Damascus Countryside Awqaf Department Khudir Shahrour, in a statement to SANA, said that the ministry took this step to prevent the spread of the Corona virus epidemic in provinces of Damascus and its countryside.
He stressed the importance of citizens’ adherence to the preventive measures taken to contain Corona virus.
