US jabs Russia over claim of spreading virus disinformation

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the allegations “some kind of a persistent phobia.” He said the Russian press was continuing to cover the corona virus and that there was “no need to blame objective and quality work of the media.”

Peskov confirmed in a press statement today, Wednesday, that the Russian media are actively and transparently covering the situation in the country in the area of the outbreak of the Corona virus.

“Indeed, Russia is not without problems, but it is going through a difficult period, better than many other countries,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

He noted that “all the media have noticed the major problems facing the United States during this period.”

Earlier, US media outlets published articles accusing Russia of misleading about the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, and alleging that former employees of the Military Intelligence Unit were publishing information in an attempt to influence the mood of Americans.

This means that this is a Russian attempt to influence the progress of the US presidential elections scheduled for next October.
