President Bashar Al-Assad on Wednesday received Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Vershinin and the accompanying delegation.
Lavrentiev conveyed to President Al-Assad and to the Syrian people, President Vladimir Putin’s congratulations for the success of the People’s Assembly elections held recently, these elections that affirm the Syrian people’s support to the state’s method to achieve stability and to improve the living conditions.
During the meeting, talks dealt with the latest developments in Syria, with the two sides stressing that the continued hostile policies by some countries, particularly on the political and economic levels towards the Syrian people, and their continued interference in the Syrians’ internal affairs are the main factor for the continued presence of the terrorist organizations in some Syrian areas and what may result from that of hindering stability and dangers that pose threat to the lives of the Syrians and their livelihood, in particular, and stability of the region, in general.
The talks also tackled the ongoing preparations for holding a meeting for the Committee of Discussing the Constitution in Geneva next month, and the necessity that various international parties work to provide the appropriate atmosphere for the committee to carry out its work according to the principle on which it was formed, mainly, to be led and owned by Syria and without any pressures that might affect its work.
The two sides expressed determination to continue and intensify joint work and to follow up developing the bilateral relations and exerting all efforts to find solutions to the difficulties resulted by the policies of some western countries against Syria and to alleviate the repercussions of the unfair sanctions imposed on Syrian people and to help them face the impacts of these sanctions, including combating the corona virus epidemic.
