Gatilov: Washington and its allies are using the humanitarian aid file in Syria as a cover to transfer weapons to terrorists

The Permanent Representative of Russia to the United Nations Office in Geneva and other international organizations, Gennady Gatilov, affirmed that the United States and its allies are using the humanitarian aid file in Syria as a cover to transfer weapons to armed terrorist organizations and undermine their sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“It is no secret that the United States and its allies are using the humanitarian file to implement their political goals in Syria, which are limited to undermining its sovereignty and territorial integrity, including by providing certain political and economic facilities and aid to the areas it controls,” Gatilov said in an interview with the Russian daily Izvestia in its issue today. Terrorist groups. ”

He pointed out that the West stubbornly refuses to accept the changes on the ground that have occurred since the establishment of the delivery mechanism for humanitarian aid in 2014, calling on him to start sending humanitarian aid from inside the country and stressing that the Syrian government is ready for positive cooperation in this field.

Gatilov pointed out that the West is also using unilateral coercive measures on Syria to increase the pressure on the Syrian citizens for their livelihood, stressing that Russia is responding by all means to this western policy, which also contradicts the United Nations Charter.

Gatilov considered that the United Nations cannot prevent the delivery of weapons to terrorists in the de-escalation zone in Idlib under the guise of humanitarian aid because it does not exist in this region.

Ambassador Hossam El Din Ala, the permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations in Geneva, confirmed yesterday that the insistence of Western countries in the Security Council recently to deliver humanitarian aid to the areas of the existence of terrorist groups through illegal border crossings confirms the size of politicization that surrounds the positions of these countries once again, the commitment of the Syrian government By responding to the humanitarian needs of its citizens throughout the Syrian territories and by facilitating the delivery of aid from inside Syria and through legitimate border crossings, in line with the decisions governing the work of the United Nations humanitarian agencies.
