Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif responded via “Twitter” to US President Donald Trump, who thanked Tehran for the release of American citizen Michael White and called on it to conclude a “grand bargain.”
In a tweet posted Friday on his Twitter account, Zarif, commenting on Trump‘s words, Zarif indicated that the recent prisoner exchange deal between Washington and Tehran came despite the efforts of “my subordinates” the master of the White House.
Addressing the US President, the Iranian Foreign Minister said: “We had a deal when I took office, and Iran and the other parties did not withdraw from the comprehensive action plan.”
He continued: “Your advisers made a stupid bet, and you have to decide when you want to fix that.”
This was a comment on a tweet in which Trump thanked Iran for releasing White, who had been in detention since 2018, and called on the Islamic Republic to conclude a “grand bargain” before the upcoming presidential elections in the United States.
