The Council of Ministers: Daily follow-up of citizens ’living issues and securing basic materials in the Syrian outlets for trade in sufficient quantities

The Council of Ministers requested all ministries, public bodies and private sector institutions to fully comply with the health requirements for sterilization, hygiene and spatial distance between workers and regulate the provision of services to citizens according to the conditions of health safety and reduce congestion due to the increasing number of infections in the Corona virus in the recent period.

In its weekly session today, headed by Eng. Hussein Arnous, the Prime Minister called on all citizens to follow the highest levels of care, responsibility and lack of relaxation by following the health requirements and spatial divergence at work and at home in order to maintain public health.

Dr. Nizar Yazji, Minister of Health, gave a presentation on the reality of recent infections with the Corona virus and the Ministry’s measures to limit its spread, confirming that surveying of all cases of infected cases in a new area is credited, in order to limit the infections and prevent their spread.

The ministries of interior, local administration, environment, internal trade, and consumer protection were asked to intensify tours of markets, restaurants, and transportation to ensure compliance with health safety measures and strict punishment for violators.

With regard to the economic and living situation and securing the basic needs of citizens at reasonable prices, the Council stressed to all ministries the necessity of daily follow-up to the citizen’s living issues and asked the ministries of internal trade and the economy to secure basic materials in the outlets of the Syrian Trade Establishment in sufficient quantities and sell them to citizens via the e-services card.

The Council adopted the “National System for Electronic Government Transactions” prepared by the Ministry of Communications and Technology with the aim of rationalizing the use of paper correspondence in ministries and government institutions, and limiting it to the necessary ones.

On the other hand, the council affirmed the completion of projects under implementation in the governorates that would improve services provided to citizens directly, after the heads of government committees concerned with following up on the implementation of “service and development” projects in the provinces of “Damascus countryside, Lattakia, Daraa, Suwayda and Quneitra” reviewed the results of the ministerial tours during Last week, the most important decisions taken in the development and services sectors.

The Council also discussed a draft law to exempt business owners subscribed to the General Organization for Social Insurance from the interest and additional sums incurred by them for a period of one year, to include establishments in the newly liberated areas, and a draft law to amend the decree on penalties imposed on the illegal rent of electricity to reduce this phenomenon, which will reflect positively on Electrical feeding in various regions.

The council agreed to grant a financial advance to the Syrian Railways Organization to pay salaries, wages and social insurance for its employees.

In a statement to reporters after the session, Minister of Local Administration and Environment Eng. Hussein Makhlouf stressed the importance of achieving more progress in the implemented production projects that are under way in the Lattakia governorate and accelerating the pace of family farming, professional crafts and manufacturing units in a manner that enhances the ability to self-reliance and benefit from resources.

For his part, Minister of Communications and Technology, Iyad Al-Khatib, stated that all service requests for the endosperm governorate will be followed up with their implementation with the relevant authorities, especially with regard to developing the industrial zone and linking it with the railway linking to Damascus in order to facilitate the transport of products.
