Tehran will send the Ukrainian plane black box to Paris within days

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has informed his Canadian counterpart that Tehran will send the fund of the stricken Ukrainian plane to France in the coming days.

In a telephone call, assured his Canadian counterpart, Francois Philippe, that the decision to send the black box to France had been taken, and that it would be implemented as soon as possible.

Zarif announced again his country’s readiness to settle all outstanding legal issues regarding the Ukrainian plane, including compensation for the families of the victims, and compensation for the losses of the Ukrainian airline, and said that Tehran had informed Kiev of that, indicating that it had not sent any delegation to discuss compensation.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in its statement, that the outbreak of the Corona virus, and the stop of many flights between countries of the world, led to the suspension of reading the black box, and cooperation with the countries concerned in the file of the Ukrainian plane.

Countries associated with the file accuse Tehran of evading its responsibilities towards the plane crash, in terms of reading the black box or compensating the losses, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelinsky announced that his country will resort to international courts if Iran does not fulfill its obligations related to the plane file.

Tehran earlier refused to hand over the black box to Ukraine, France or the American Boeing Company, and demanded that Paris and Washington bypass sanctions and send technical equipment to read the box, and said that its request had not been answered.

Iran’s air defenses shot down a Ukrainian Boeing 737 over Tehran on a trip to Kiev on January 8, two minutes after take off, killing 167 passengers and its 9-member crew.
